Has anyone else used OVBB? For those of you that haven't OVBB is a lot like vBulletin. Everyone’s knows vBulletin is the best Message Board software around but not many like paying for it because it's really pricey. OVBB is Open source like phpBB though. If you fancy checking OVBB out go here http://www.ovbb.org/
The software only has the basic features at the moment. I think their trying to keep the server load down to a minimum. It's really fast at loading pages at the moment! Heh
They haven't got round to even adding a function for admins to delete users from ACP yet though. I guess they haven't even got the basic features then lol I guess there isn't many in their development team.
I'd like to know what Nightrider thinks of it especially. If you want to check it out Nightrider login on my board as Chris Powell, you already know the password

I'm just testing this out because I messed up my phpBB installation a few months ago. I didn't have much to lose though as they weren't many members anyway
I wonder if OVBB do better than phpBB3 in the long run! |

There's no way to know what the future holds. Olypus, phpbb3, has been in development for many years. It was scheduled for release at least 2 years ago and yet it still hasn't been officially released. So a lot has gone into it to get this point...
If OVBB doesn't even provide an option to delete members, I wonder what other functionlity is lacking? That would be a pretty basic need for most admins, so it seems odd that they've failed to include it so far...
I have enough to deal with now that I really don't have time to consider software that is still in its infancy and probably should be considered Alpha or Beta software at best. Hopefully the developers of OVBB have a lot of time to devote to it and can bring it up to speed quickly...
I think if you need a basic free forum software that you have no need or desire to upgrade, then OVBB might be alright for you. But if you want a choice of a large number of templates and MODs, then it might not be what you're looking for yet...
