I think we all know that its hard to find a free host out there with all the options necessary to run a phpbb 2.0.22 forum.
I was hoping to hear some success stories and get a list of phpbb2 friendly free hosts.
Problems that I have run into with free hosts are as follows.
FTP in safe mode
no stmp for email activations.
Scripts blocked so mod installs all have to be manual.
Not enough server space.
A very little bandwidth allowance.
It seams that there is always something blocking either the install of phpbb, a function of it, or mod installation.
Is any one using a free host that is fully functional?
If so please share that info with the rest of us

Thats an interesting site but it does not have FTP access.
Therefore its not mod friendly,
It has no ftp access and so does not meet the criteria 
We need a list of free web hosts that will allow the installation of fully functional phpbb 2 forums and allow us to upload our own choice of mods. Not the hosts choice of mods from a list.
That site has a total of 8 mods, I have closer to 30 mods to install.

| Awardspace.com You can host your site and/or a phpbb forum there for free! I have paid hosting with them and they are great! however their support is no where near as good at paid hosting support. |

We just investigated Awardspace to find out that the free account does not support stmp. Which means no email function on your forum there.
This means that you can't send activation emails or notification emails via your phpbb 2 board...
I'm sure their pay packages offer more but thats not free, and free is what were looking for.

Do they force you to try to function in safe mode?
I haven't investigated this one yet.
Have you successfully installed phpbb 2 on that free host?
