i just want to try the phpbb3 version~~ But i dunno collect this .
I has go visit my cpanel about this info..but really dunno how to collect it.
Database configuration
Database type:
Database server hostname or DSN:
DSN stands for Data Source Name and is relevant only for ODBC installs.
Database server port:
Leave this blank unless you know the server operates on a non-standard port.
Database name:
Database username:
Database password:
Prefix for tables in database:  |

best to just wait until they relese the stable version... doubt you'll get anyway with phpbb3 as it is now... esp with the limited support.  |

Ya.i know..but im just want to try the beta 1st. As i know..the RC4 has relese soon ( Maybe this few day i think ) .It was fix the forum speed bug.Hehe..Chris , can teach me how to collect the infor? Pls make a example collection to me.  |

Is that what the phpBB3 install is asking for? You would create a new database in your Host CPanel, then assign a username with full privileges to it. Then you would set Database type to mysql-4 or mysql-5, Database name to the new database, Database username and password to the username and password assigned to the database, then use phpbb3_ or something similar for the Prefix for tables in database. I imagine that you can leave the Database configuration, Database server hostname or DSN, and Database server port blank...

| My sister has just installed this and it looks pretty cool, but iv refused it for now until its out properly and when i know a lot of people who have got it coz of bugs etc!! I guess everything you have done on phpbb2 version will be scrap i.e all the installs of the mods etc, not sure if im right there but id like to know more on phpbb3 for the future.... |

I've only installed phpBB3 once, so I don't have a lot of experience with install problems. I imagine that one of your database settings are wrong. Make sure that the font case on the password matches what you used for the username assigned to the new database and that everything is spelled correctly...

ya, i saw many bug post on phpbb.com That's why the RC4 will be relese soon.as i tol edi. i just create for test..hehe..Not currently using  Anyway thanks for inform . |

Right, if you switch to phpBB3, you will lose all MODs installed in phpBB2. There is no conversion tool to include what was installed in phpBB2 into phpBB3. PhpBB3 is nearly a total rewrite of the software, so nothing matches except for the name...
