What is the most effective MOD to stop Spam Bots from registering to your forums?

I don't know of any single MOD that can stop spam bots from registering. There are many MODs that can make life more difficult for them. Here is a list of Spam Bot MODs that you might consider installing to help stop and prevent spammers and spam registrations:

And between these 2, they seem to have stopped the bots cold, and also the spam people. Early days if this is enough, but its very encouraging so far.

I also use Quick admin options now as well, and this makes looking at registration details quick and easy instead of long winded cut and paste name.

That sounds like good news to me. It's nice to hear that one or two MODs can make such a positive difference...

I use the Photo-Recognition Visual Confirmation mod which has stopped all spam bots.

The above mod is can be altered to your liking as well. You can switch out the pictures, and with a little tweak you can change the number of pictures to chose from. The default is 20 pictures and you chose from cats for the "animals" and cars are the none animals.

You can see it in place at both sites listed in my siggy.

Luckily I haven't had any problems with human spammers yet but it would be easier to manage them with the Admin Userlist Mod

2 days after installing the math question and no website mods, 3 forums havent had a single registration !

That maths mod seems to have been very successful for me.

So much so that I just sent an email to all users based on this thread :

A bit of fun, but we need some I think.

In the process, I found 1/3 of the email addresses were undeliverable, although it includes a few posters, so not a completely accurate test. Now it remains to see who actually posts on this thread Smile

After a bit, I'll do a clean out of the membership list.
