The side-panel background is assigned in your overall_header.tpl file:

background: #4A4451 url(templates/subSilver/images/bg.jpg) repeat-y center top;
|
You can delete that line from the body class to get rid of it. I'm really not sure where you limited the width of your template. Did you use a javascript function to do it???

I know where the background: is cheers
I haven't used any javascript though. In fact I haven't used anything... if I remember rightly you're the one that modified the page so that it went from phpBB default to the one that's there now. I'm not sure what's going on to be honest |

Well it's definitely something in the overall_header.tpl that's causing the problem because when using the default phpBB overall_header.tpl the forums loads in wide view... at least we know it's not any other files affecting the forum view
I wonder if a mod has modified the template some how...no mod should change the forum view size though |

i've found the problem
i had to change from 100 to 0 in the overall_header.tpl
now the index seems to be ok but not the pm window
http://www.djpassions.com/privmsg.php?folder=inbox
nor when viewing a category, thread 
all we did was added the image code and changed from 100 to 1

Instead of setting it to 0px, you should have set it to 100%. The forum is full width now...
