Having just been going through the whole anti-spamregister thing to make my forums more spam proof, I've ended up with several mods installed that seem to be doing the job now very nicely, at least as far as cutting down the spam registrations is concerned and making viewing of profiles easier and quicker.

I'm now using :

Math question
Quick admin options
No website or signature in Registration

I cant get Zero users or Delete User to install (different thread).

But those 3 I have installed seem to be making a huge difference.

I wondered if its worth bundling them in a single zip and having them downloadable as a recommended basic security pack ?

I also thought about an extended recommended pack too, as I also use longer descriptions and View all posts sorted by time, which are both essential to me, since I cant get forum notification to install either.

All the ones I have installed fine first go, so presumably will install onto most forums without hassel.

This way, people looking at what mods to install can see what other people use and recommend and get them all in one download instead spending a lot of time looking for them one by one.

What do you think ?

There are a lot of Spam and Security MODs out there so I would have a hard time picking favorites to bundle into one download. Each MOD has pros and cons, so what works great for one site may not be so hot for another. It probably would be nice if you could find all the MODs stored in the same place so that you could see what's available and choose what works best for your situation...

As people have requested MODs that I have, I have made them available for anyone who wants to download them. It is possible that many of the MODs available here are older versions from what is out there now though, so it is always good to check on the Author's site and at phpBB.com to see if there is a newer version available before installing what is available here. Here is the folder where I store the Security MODs...

I'm getting a lot of spam bot registrations and spammer registrations now too. I don't know what are the best BOT Registration MODs to install, but there are a lot available in the phpBB MOD Database. Apparently I will be needing to install more than I already have. I can delete them as quickly as they register but it would be nice not to have to do that...
