I looked everywhere, but cant find a solution for the message I get when "starting" easymod-install.php.
All the files are there and in the right directories/folders.
What am I doin wrong? |

Welcome to RCF, Bar2D2!!!
Ok, there could be several things that are wrong. Without more detail, I can only guess at what it might be...
- First, people often name the new mods folder something else, such as Mods, MODS, mod, or some other combination. It MUST BE named mods. So you should see the following path after you have uploaded EM to the new mods folder:
admin/mods/easymod - Many people fail to maintain the directory structure when they extract the EM files from the downloaded archive. Following are instructions for maintaining the directory structure when using Winzip. These instructions are using the Cash MOD for an example, but the same instructions apply to EM or any other archive as well...
Winzip Extract Files Instructions
If you are using Winzip to extract the files from the Cash MOD or any other zipped MOD, this is how you should do it...
- Press the Extract button:
- Choose a destination folder that you can quickly and easily find:
- Make sure that the All files/folders in archive is selected as well as the User Folder Names checkbox (Important)
- Then press the extract button:
- When you look in the Cash MOD folder, you should see this if the extract was successful:

- It is possible that one or more of the EM install files were not successfully uploaded to your admin/mods/easymod folder, so you might try uploading them again. It's also possible that one or more of the install files are corrupt, so uploading the files again will hopefully correct that problem...
- The path to the EM install in your browser could look something like this:
http://yourdomain.com/phpBB2/admin/mods/easymod/easymod_install.php So check to make sure that the path in your browser is correct...

Well, thanks for the warm welcome and the extensive reply
I am not a complete newbie though and have been playing around with web-design and forums for quite a few years, so I am pretty sure my folder structure is correct.
But I didn't try unzipping the package once more to see if something went wrong there.... I will download the mod once more and start over from the beginning |

That makes it easier if you are not totally new to this. That gives us a better chance at finding and resolving the problem...
Have you checked the file and folder permissions too? For most servers, the file permissions should be set to 644 and the folder permissions to 755. But there are many exceptions to the rule, so if you are on one of those exceptions, it could cause the problem that you are describing...
Are you using one of the free hosts such as Awardspace or Lycos? You're not using a Nuke board are you???

I use Dreamweaver 8 to upload my folders and files and have one.com as webhotel. Standard phpBB version 2.022. I double checked everything and am totally embarrassed. I didn't check the file permissions........ |

I'm sorry for the slow response. I had a bad day again yesterday and never made it online...
Do you happen to have a .htaccess file in your admin folder that may prevent access to other files, including the easymod_install.php file? Also, I recently worked on another site where the host placed restrictions on which files could be accessed. Contacting the host was enough to solve their EM install problem. I wonder if that might be your problem as well? It might be worth contacting them too to see if this is a problem on their end that they can corrent...

Dont worry about my minor problem in the virtual world too much and take could care of yourself in the real wordl
I spoke to my web-hotel host and they were not aware of any access problem.
I am going to install phpBB on another website (same host), try install easymod and see if I encounter the same problem..........

Ok, I wish your host could have pinpointed and corrected the problem. I've got my fingers crossed on your little experiment...
Good Luck with it Bar2D2!!!

I chatted with support of my host, but the person didnt know the easymod. So I will need to send an email and be patient.....
Btw, I do not get mail notfications ("Notify me when a reply is posted") from your board..
