I have no problem uploading all the files to the right directory and running the php file from my browser (Firefox 2.0).
All the ftp messages were positive and I got to stage 3, quoted below:

Installing EasyMOD beta (0.3.0)
Step 3 (of 5): EasyMOD is now installing itself as it would any MOD. There is a two step process of first creating the modified files and then moving them into place. The modified file(s) do no effect the core phpBB files in any way until the next step. Click the "Complete Processing" button to move the files into place.
Building Post Process Actions
The following actions will be executed in the final step: copy includes/admin_easymod.php.txt ../../../admin/admin_easymod.php

I pressed "Complete Processing" and found myself back in the public_html directory looking at the index.htm file on my website, the files for which are in that directory.
There was no error message or anything whatsoever.
I tried again, seeing as none of the changes had been made to files by easymod that I could tell, and none had been copied to locations mentioned above, but this time I removed the index.htm file from the public_html directory. I ended up seeing the directory listing instead of the intro page to my web site.
I have checked all the directories have the correct permissions, using 755. During stage 1 and stage 2 there no errors. I also tried the test that generates the privmsg.php and that works too.
I am using v 2.0.22 phpBB and tried to install Easymod 0.3
My home PC is Windows XP and the server I'm installing on is Linux, run by eUKHost.
There were no problems installing the board, and it is a fresh installation. However, it is now live and is gathering momentum. I may have to install a test board as I'm a total phpBB numpty and will need something else to make a mess of. |

Welcome to RCF SteveU!!!
Installing a Test board is always a great idea. That could save you a lot of downtime if a MOD hoses your board. With a Test board, you can work out any install problems without ever disrupting your Live community. Then once you have corrected any conflicts between the MOD and your phpBB code and have worked out any problems with DB updates and/or folder permissions, then you should be able to quickly and easily install the MOD into your Live board using EM and never cause any problems for your Live community. Creating a Test board that is identical is easy and if you have a virgin Live board now, you can simply install phpBB into a Test folder. If you have already made some changes to your live board, then you would want to download your Live board files, then upload them to the test board. You want the Live and Test boards to be as identical as possible. I can help you with that part and getting the Test board up and running if need be...
You have what sounds like a variation of the Looping Login problem but not quite. It never ceases to amaze me after all this time of helping people, they keep finding new install problems that I hadn't seen before...
EM's Debug Information
Could you post your EM Debug information to see if that could shed some light on your problem? Click on the Display Debug Info link:
Then copy and paste the Debug Info page here in your message. Do not embed it between code bbcode tags. The Debug Info page is already formatted to display correctly in your message...
