I have read so much and checked into so many things I think I have thoroughly confused myself and probably am making things harder than they have to be. I decided to ask all my questions in one thread instead of bugging everyone for days about things and I don't know what mods have been tried and have real problems.
Security: All mods I am looking at can be found here.

I've set account activation to user. Having to be activated by admin creates a private only atmosphere to me and a lot of work I don't want to deal with, would rather kickout the few bad ones that get through.
Have the registration diable website and signature with autoban but wondering about the required fields mod. I know one person that has only username, email, and passwords in her registration.
Hide Zero Posters? Active members only? What about the newest member field?
What people are telling me they want:
They want an ignore user (which mod works right covers the most) I was looking at the one that also ignore's in the PM also but confused if admin can be ignored and whether either of the ignore mods are actually complete.
They would like to also ignore threads I'm seeing nothing to do that.
They want an icon of some sort to quickly identify threads they have posted to.
They keep refering to those popup bubbles when you highlight a topic that lets them read a clip so they know if they want to open a thread.
I did find the description mod is that the only one we have?
They don't want to cull through pages or try to remember what page # they were on, want to be taken to where they were last reading in a thread. I see the sort by newest/oldest but cannot figure out how to make the default the newest post Not really what they want but best I can see so far.
They want html on (it is) so they can use their siggies from places like ticker and glittermaker. That on scares me.
I think that is it. I'll do the attachment and weather. And was thinking of using the one that if someone is removed from the system people will still have their PM's
So what do you recommend? |

There is one at phpbbhacks.com that shows a summary from the last message posted. I'm sure there is another one too but can't find it.

You can do this through your ACP under configuration. I'd say turn it on. |

That's a nice comprehensive guide to securing the board from spam bots. It's good to see that someone has put so much effort into it. I'm sure that this could help a lot of people...

This is probably a nice MOD to have because it discourages new members who never plan to post. They will never appear in a Search engine on that site. I imagine that if written correctly, the MOD will handle the newest member correctly too. It should display the newest active member that has posted at least once...

The closest MOD that I know that might do something like this is the Profile Control Panel. It is a huge MOD that replaces your current profile.php file with its own, which is a huge mistake. Should you decide to restore the backups, you won't have one for the profile.php file unless you knew in advance to create one. I installed the PCP MOD here in RCF early on, but the majority voted that they didn't like it, so I removed it. The PCP MOD makes changing the settings in your Profile far too difficult. The KISS principle is usually the best option...

I've found and installed several MODs that do this, but I didn't like any of them. So I removed all of them...

This sounds like the point where you tell them to bookmark the page if they want to return to it. I don't know of any MODs that will do what they are requesting...

We have full HTML turned on here too and that hasn't caused us any problems yet. If you have decent members, then I doubt that it will be a problem for you either...
